Galileo Energy donates £300 to breathe new life into Rumbling Bridge defibrillator
Renewable energy developer, Galileo Empower, has donated £300 to support the replacement of the defibrillator cabinet at Rumbling Bridge.
The cabinet was destroyed by an unknown car that mounted the pavement in January, and an appeal by Kinross First Responders Charity was immediately launched on social media.
Defibrillators are devices that apply an electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat if the heart rhythm stops due to cardiac arrest.
With no nearby alternatives other than Crook of Devon, this initiative ensures the area is equipped with a vital life-saving resource, should it be needed.
Galileo Empower is currently proposing a wind farm on land northwest of the hamlet of Carnbo. Comprising eight wind turbines, the development is proposed to have a total generating capacity of up to 49.6 megawatts (MW).
Cris Thacker, Communications Manager for Galileo Empower, said:
We are delighted to have provided financial support to the Kinross First Responders Charity to reinstall the defibrillator, which is a vital resource for the local community. This donation highlights our commitment to working with the communities we are involved in, supporting local causes where appropriate.
Kinross First Responders Charity is volunteer run and places defibrillators into the local community as well as offering training in CPR and defibrillator use. The group manages 15 defibrillators across Kinross-shire.
Alan Ruiz of Kinross First Responders Charity said:
It is fantastic to have received this donation, assisting us to get the defibrillator at Rumbling Bridge up and running again.
A defibrillator can literally make the difference between life and death and is even more essential in rural areas. They are easy to use and save lives.
We would like to thank the team at Galileo Empower for contributing to replacing the cabinet and making local communities safer.
