Craighead Windfarm Project Submitted to Perth and Kinross Council

Galileo Empower UK Ltd is pleased to announce that it has submitted a planning application for the Craighead Windfarm project to the Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) planning authority.

Project Overview

The Craighead Windfarm is proposed for development near Carnbo in Kinross-shire, Scotland. The project will consist of up to eight wind turbines with a maximum generating capacity of 49.6 megawatts (MW). This renewable energy source will contribute significantly to the decarbonisation of the electricity grid, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and potentially benefit the local community, including reduced electricity bills for nearby residents.

Open Communication and Community Engagement

Galileo Empower UK Ltd is committed to maintaining open communication with residents throughout the planning process. The project manager for this innovative project said:

‘We have actively engaged with the community through three rounds of public exhibitions and incorporated their feedback into the planning application; the application is accompanied by a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) that outlines potential environmental impacts and proposed mitigation strategies’.

Next Steps

PKC is currently considering the planning application. We invite interested parties to view the application and supporting documents on the PKC planning portal: https://www.pkc.gov.uk/article/14161/Planning-and-building

A decision on the application is expected by early November 2024. Following approval, Galileo Empower UK Ltd will circulate detailed construction and community plans in early 2025.
